EVOLVING STRATEGIES
This week’s opportunity to evolve your strategy
Digital sales strategy of your home page and it’s importance for your sales
The prime real estate on your home page is everything you can see at the top of the home page without scrolling. It’s the first impression people get of your business and this is a crucial space to use. It affects your SEO and bounce rates. If people don’t get what they’re looking for from this space they leave, the more people that leave your site increases your bounce rates.
Bounce rates are a factor in how much organic traffic is sent to your site from search engines. If it’s high, it tells the search engine the site is not helpful to people so you receive less traffic. Think about what you place at the top of this page, is it giving potential customers the right information?
Online is constantly growing and evolving but since the pandemic it’s become even more of a place to go shopping. The ease of being able to research and buy online allows consumers to:
Reach more consumers with your offers
Build brand awareness that your business exists and provides value
More and more people are becoming comfortable with being online
Story time…
You’re a parent who has a child under 1, and you’re working part time. You need to a way to soothe you’re baby who hasn’t been sleeping properly for the last week. This means you haven’t been sleeping properly either because you’re waking up to soothe your child throughout the night.
You don’t have a lot of time, and you want to get this off your to do list. You sit down at your computer and start frantically searching for anything that will give you some answers. You spend maybe 5 seconds on each site, checkout the top half of the page, quickly scroll through the second half it there’s no info you then leave. Because you don’t have a lot of time and want to get answers.
How to apply this:
What you should takeaway and apply to your digital sales strategy:
Have info that shows value
Keep it simple
Have a CTA
Have info that shows value
Since you only have seconds of the consumer’s attention, you need to relay information that provides them the answers they’re need. The goal is to give them info that’ll get them to keep scrolling your page and go to your products, review and buy.
You’re focus should be to answer the following questions:
What do you do? - What do you give consumers. Is it consulting services? Baby skincare products?
How do you do it? - This should be a unique position that your competitors don’t do.
Keep it simple
The last thing you want to do is confuse your audience, so try to keep it simple and straightforward when answering the above 2 questions. The more clear the information the easier it is for your audience to understand what the message is.
Let’s say it’s witty but the consumer doesn’t understand what you’re saying, than they won’t buy your products. When have you bought something yourself when you were confused about what you were getting?
Have a CTA
Since again you only have 3 seconds of attention and everyone is busy, make sure to provide some convenience by having a CTA that’s visible at the top section of your site.
People are so busy they spend less than 3 seconds on a website. A website that has too much information and tons of pages will have more people leave, you need to be strategic in how you drive consumers to buy.
Have a CTA, keep the message on the button clear and direct them straight to your product page.
