EVOLVING STRATEGIES

This week’s opportunity to evolve your strategy

Digital sales strategy of listening to your employees to increase sales

Your employees are the key to your success, you have a team that creates campaigns, executes, reviews the data and looks at ways to improve sales. They know everything about your business, including what’s not working which could be slowing down your digital sales.

Having a brainstorm session every quarter or six months is a great way to find out what’s not working. They’ll share with you what areas need improvements to keep seeing growth. Use this as an opportunity to create solutions for those issues, update your digital sales strategy and implement.

Your employees will always share what’s making their jobs more difficult, because who wants their job to be more difficult? Likely they’re trying to make improvements to make their work easier.

Imagine you’re the marketing coordinator working in a role that requires a lot of manual work, and you have to cross reference multiple people, resources and schedules before you can implement the week’s schedule of campaigns. This takes your work 3 times as long, and you finish on Wednesday evening instead of Tuesday morning, slowing down growth. Because this doesn’t leave a lot of room to review the data results from the previous week’s campaigns, so you’re in a rush to implement everything before the deadline. So you’re not really making improvements before the next campaign goes out.

How to apply this:

What you should takeaway and apply to your digital sales strategy:

  1. Talk and listen to your employees

  2. Consider everything in your strategy

  3. Automate and remove manual work

Talk and listen to your employees

Ask your employees about your business and listen to what they have to say. They’ll share everything that’s working and what’s not, because they have the insights. They use the systems, processes, review the data and know the customers. They live and breathe your business, so they would know exactly what needs to change to see improvements in your sales.

Sit down with them and have them walk you through the challenges. Understand by making the improvements what would be the expected ROI.

Consider everything in your strategy

Leave nothing out of your strategy, when it comes to creating solutions. Look at it all, from the processes, to the systems and culture of your business. Everything is a factor in the success of customers buying.

Consider some of these when reviewing your strategy:

  • Systems and tools

  • Products

  • Automation

  • The Market

  • Environment

  • Workplace culture

  • Staff expertise

  • Consumer changes

Automate and remove manual work

Having your site automated and your staff moving in an agile manner will be a factor to success. With digital innovation happening regularly, without it you’re falling behind and your business won’t be able to catch up.

Manual processes take too long, and by the time changes are made it’s time for more changes. Review all areas of manual work and look at ways to automate it, find better tools or remove it all together. Giving your employees more time to focus on being effective in their work.
