How to use A/B testing to your advantage

EVOLVING STRATEGIES

This week’s opportunity to evolve your strategy

A/B testing actually improves your site and increases conversions

How A/B testing can drive sales for your business:

You've heard of A/B testing on your site, choosing 2 CTAs and running them simultaneously to see which performs better. One group sees option A and one group sees Option B. What are the benefits and how does it help your business?

It's important to regularly be optimizing your site with the best messaging, CTAs, value props, visuals and more. But to see what works for your site you need to test it.

There are industry standards, but what may work for one site may not work for another. That's why A/B testing is important. It allows you to see what will perform better and use as a standard practice. This helps you create a better experience for your audience, increase engagement and drive more sales.

How to apply to your digital sales strategy:

  1. Relevant data and info

  2. Evolving digital landscape

  3. Use it to increase engagement

  4. Reduce bounce rates and increase conversions

  5. Helps you develop a strong digital sales strategy

Relevant data and info

What worked 2 years ago is already out of date. So you need to regularly be testing to see what improvements you can make.

Testing done 2 years ago is too far out of date. You can use it directionally for guidance but it's better to run a new test.

Anything within a year can be leveraged. Even a year at times might be out of date and it's better to run a test if possible. The more current the information the more you can use for direction.

Evolving digital landscape

With digital there are always innovations happening so you need to stay up to date. Testing allows you to continue to stay ahead of the digital curve.

If you wait too long you’ll be far behind the innovations, it’ll have a negative impact on your sales. Testing allows you to try new opportunities that come, and continue to evolve your business.

Use it to increase engagement

You can use A/B testing for many areas of your website. Visuals, CTAs, copy, buttons, colours, headlines and more.

By testing these, you're gaining more insights into what your audience is interested in. Using the information to adjust based on what's working gets you're audience to engage more because they're interested in it and it's tailored to them.

Reduce bounce rates and increase conversion

Your end goal to get your audience to buy your products. So you need to get them to stay on your site longer to see the value and products you provide.

Show them what they like and are interested in based on the insights you gain and this increases the likelihood of them buying your products.

Use it to provide the messaging that gets them to click buy, go to see your products and see how it solves their problem.

Helps you develop a strong digital sales strategy

Testing is one of the ways to collect data and by doing so you're able to gain insights on what's working and what's not. Giving you a clearer direction on how to place a strategy that will increase sales.

It is time consuming to always be testing, pulling results and using the insights to take direction. You want to make sure you're testing so you're gaining value from it, that provides direction to grow your business. You can't test everything, and it doesn't provide value.
