EVOLVING STRATEGIES

This week’s opportunity to evolve your strategy

3 reasons why your website maybe failing

If you don’t already know this, remember this for all digital. You have 3 seconds of a person’s attention before they decide to stay or leave your website. So these 3 seconds are crucial to getting people who land on your page to stay and continue scrolling, find value in your services and buy your products.

There are a few things you should seriously consider to make sure you are capturing every opportunity that comes to your site. Look at it from the point of view of yourself as the customer.

Imagine you’re looking to buy a new set of espresso cups. You’re looking for the right ones that showcase your love for coffee and elevate your mornings because you like to spend your time really crafting some amazing taste of coffee. Sip it slowly, and enjoy it before you start your day.

What would you want to see when you land on a website, that’s going to get you to stay, look at the products and then buy?

How to apply this:

What you should takeaway and apply to your digital sales strategy:

  1. Keep copy short and to the point

  2. Easy to navigate landing page

  3. ‘Above the fold section’ is your elevator pitch

Keep copy short and to the point

Make the marketing messages you use understandable by the customer. Avoid cheeky or quirky language that can be misinterpreted, especially when you’re first starting out.

Keeping the messaging to the point and as clear as possible is the best way for your audience to want to continue staying on your site. When customers don’t understand, they don’t buy and leave.

Easy to navigate landing page

Always make it easy to navigate and find products and services, the easier it is the more likely they will find exactly what they’re looking for. Again, you have 3 seconds. If a customer can’t find a product, they’ll leave.

  • Have your products categorized and towards the top of the page

  • Allow all sub-pages to be linked out from your home page

The goal is convenience, and that this help provide convenience for shopping.

‘Above the fold’ section is your elevator pitch

You can view the top section of your site, without any scrolling as the elevator pitch. What would you say, if you met someone that would invest in your business with $1M?

Keep it short, 2 sentences and the following is what you should address:

  • What you do? Talk about the value your business provides customers.

  • How do you do it? Talk about how you do it differently than your competitors. What makes your business unique compared to all the others?

Ask yourself: Are you using the 3 seconds you have wisely with each person that lands on your website?
